Pacific Coast Branch,
Brochure Text
The object of the Western Front Association is to study the history of the First World War -- the "Great War" of 1914-1918 -- with particular reference to the Western Front in France and Belgium, and to help educate the general public about that massive conflict's significance to today's modern world.
The WFA is a non-political non-profit world-wide organization, with about 6000 members in branches in a dozen countries. Our sole aim is to further interest in the First World War, and to perpetuate the memory of all who served their countries on the Western Front. The WFA does not seek to justify or glorify warfare, and is not a re-enactment society.
Branch activities and interests
WFA members involve themselves in many different aspects of WWI 'remembering' -- ranging from their own research into military, family, or social history, studying battles and campaigns, assisting to identify military graves and maintain war memorials, visiting battlefield sites, reading and writing about the topic, or giving explanatory talks to various civic groups or schools.
You are cordially invited to join the Pacific Coast Branch, WFA
The Pacific Coast Branch of the Western Front Association is based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It comprises a group of more than 60 well-informed men and women who share an interest in researching military events and the experiences of service personnel and civilians of many nations who endured the cataclysm of World War One.
Our members live as far apart as BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Washington, Oregon, California, Florida, and Virginia. Yet, many travel to Victoria B.C. each year to attend our 3 day Annual Seminar. It is a series of informative talks and illustrated presentations about the Great War, a silent auction, socializing and meals -- held in the elegant atmosphere of the Officers Mess, Canadian Scottish Regiment, Bay Street Armory.
